STEP 1: Pet Relocation to the United Arab Emirates requires to initiate the Pet Relocation Process Early
Commence your pet relocation process at least 3 months before the planned movement date.
STEP 2: Microchip Implantation
Implant an ISO 11784/785 microchip (15 digits) for your pet before Rabies vaccination. Your veterinarian or our services can assist in the microchip procurement.
STEP 3: Vaccination
Administer Rabies, Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus (DHLPP) for dogs, and Rabies, Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, and Panleukopenia (FVRCP) for cats.
STEP 4: Rabies Serology Titration Test
Ensure your pets have an adequate rabies serology titer result from an OIE-approved laboratory. Draw a blood sample at least 21-30 days post Anti-Rabies vaccination, and before expiration, test for Antibody Titration (Rabies Titer Test) at an OIE-approved Laboratory. The acceptable result is >=0.5 IU/ml.
STEP 5: Measure your Pet
Accurately measure your pet and acquire an IATA-specified crate. We recommend trusted brands such as Petmate, Varipet, or SkyKennel, which you can conveniently purchase.
STEP 6: Crate Training
Ensure your pet becomes familiar with the travel crate. Refer to our crate training document for helpful tips.
STEP 7: Finalize the Relocation Type
For Pet relocation to the United Arab Emirates, all pets must travel as Manifest Cargo into Dubai. However there may be some workarounds if your pet is a small sized dog or cat. Please contact us for more details.
STEP 8: Apply for Import Permit
Apply for an Import Permit with the UAE Ministry of Climate Change And Environment (MOCCAE). Obtain the permit, which is valid for 30 days from the issue date, taking three days to two weeks.
STEP 9: Booking Pets Space for Manifest Cargo
Coordinate with airlines or pet relocators for booking your pet’s space. Consider the right airlines based on routing, layovers, time of travel, and weather conditions, considering your pet and crate size.
STEP 10: Vet Check and Document Endorsement
Within 10 days before the travel date, complete a vet check for your pet, and have your veterinarian issue/endorse health and fitness certificates, microchip certificate, sterilization certificate, and external/internal parasite treatment certificate.
STEP 11: Treatment for Internal & External Parasites
Get your pets treated for internal and external parasites within 14 days before export.
STEP 12: Model of Veterinary Health Certificate for Exporting Cats & Dogs to the UAE
Complete a standard Health Certificate, endorsed by the Government Veterinarian at the Ministry of Animal Quarantine & Certification Services, or equivalent body in your city of embarkation 24hrs before shipping. The certificate is valid for ten days from the issue date until the checks at the UAE point of entry.
STEP 13: Final Health Check and Certificates Issuance
Take an appointment and meet the Government Veterinarian at the Ministry of Animal Quarantine & Certification Services, or equivalent body in the city of embarkation.
After the health check, they will issue a Health Certificate, usually valid for 10 days. It is recommended to get all certificates issued 4-5 days before travel, except the Model of Veterinary Health Certificate for Exporting Cats & Dogs to the UAE, allowing buffer for validity in case of flight delays.
