STEP 1: When to Start the Process
When you are planning to relocate with your pet to Singapore, initiate the process at least 4-6 months before your pet’s scheduled movement date.
STEP 2: Measurement of Pet
Measure your pet and obtain an IATA-specified crate. We recommend Petmate/Varipet/SkyKennel for their durability and safety compared to other brands.
STEP 3: Crate Training
Ensure your pet becomes acclimatized to the crate. Refer to our crate training document here
STEP 4: Microchip Implantation
Implant an ISO 11784/785 microchip (15 digits) before Rabies vaccination. Your veterinarian can assist, or you may contact us for microchip procurement.
STEP 5: Vaccination
For dogs, administer Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus (DHLPP), along with Bordetella & Corona for travel protection. For cats, provide Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, and Panleukopenia (FVRCP). Ensure these are valid at the time of import, administered at least 30 days before the export date.
STEP 6 : Rabies Serology Titration Test (RNNAT/FAVN or RFFIT)
For dogs/cats, obtain an adequate rabies serology titer result from an OIE-approved laboratory. Draw a blood sample after 30 days but before the Anti-Rabies vaccination expiry. The sample must be sent to an OIE-approved Laboratory for testing with an acceptable result of >=0.5 IU/ml.
STEP 7 : Quarantine Space Booking
Block quarantine space at the Animal Veterinary Service (AVS) There is normally a 2 month waiting to get space, so recommend to book at the earliest. For pets relocating to Singapore from India, the quarantine is 30 days.
STEP 8: Finalise on the type of relocation.
- Accompanied Baggage: Pets travel with the parent in the same flight, either in the cargo hold or as In-Cabin based on airline regulations.
- Manifest Cargo: Pets travel alone as cargo on a passenger or freighter flight.
- Premium Option: An Anvis Pet Relocation Specialist transports the pet from door to door, either ‘In-Cabin’ or ‘In-Hold’ based on size, weight, carrier, and airline regulations.
STEP 9: Apply for Dog License (for Dogs) and Import Permit
Apply for Dog License (For dogs) and Import Permit with the Animal Veterinary Service (AVS). The permit is valid for 30 days from the issue date.
STEP 10: Booking Pets Space
Consult with airlines or pet relocators to book the pet’s space. Consider the right airline, routing, layovers, time of travel, and weather conditions based on your pet and crate size
STEP 11: Complete Vet Check
Within 10 days before the travel date, have the veterinarian issue/endorse the Health and Fitness certificate, Microchip Certificate, Sterilization certificate, and External & Internal Parasite Treatment Certificate between 2 and 7 days of export.
STEP 12: Internal & External Parasite Treatment
Ensure your dog/cat receives treatment for internal and external parasites between 2 and 7 days before export.
STEP 13: Veterinary Conditions for Importation
For countries like India that fall under Category D (4/5), complete a standard Health Certificate endorsed by the Government Veterinarian. This certificate is valid for ten days from the date of issue until the checks at the Singapore point of entry.
STEP 14: Government Veterinarian Appointment (AQCS)
Schedule an appointment with the Government Veterinarian (AQCS) for a health check, and they will issue a Health Certificate usually valid for 10 days. It’s recommended to get all certificates issued 4-5 days before travel, allowing for potential flight delays.
