Pet Relocation to Qatar — Safe, Compliant & Stress-Free with Anvis

Planning a Pet Move to Qatar? We Make It Seamless
Qatar’s vibrant culture, modern skyline, and warm climate make it an exciting destination for families—and their four-legged companions. But relocating pets to Qatar involves more than just booking a flight. With detailed health protocols, breed-specific restrictions, and strict import documentation to comply with, the process can feel overwhelming. That’s where Anvis Pet Relocation comes in.
With years of experience in exporting pets from India, we ensure your pet’s journey to Qatar is not only stress-free, but also safe, humane, and fully compliant with international regulations.

Qatar Pet Import Requirements: Step-by-Step Process

Bringing your pet into Qatar involves adhering to a strict set of health, identification, and travel regulations. At Anvis Pet Relocation, we simplify the entire process for pet parents relocating from India. Below is a comprehensive step-by-step guide to help you understand the key requirements.
Step 1: Microchipping
Your pet must be microchipped with a 15-digit ISO 11784/11785 compliant microchip. Ensure it is implanted before any vaccinations. The chip should be readable, and your pet’s documentation must reflect the microchip number. If the chip is not ISO-compliant, you’ll need to provide a compatible scanner.
Step 2: Vaccinations
Pets entering Qatar must have valid rabies vaccination certificates. The vaccine must be inactivated or recombinant, administered after microchipping, and not expired at the time of travel.
-
Dogs also require vaccines for: Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Parvovirus, and Parainfluenza.
-
Cats must be vaccinated against: Feline viral rhinotracheitis, Panleukopenia, and Feline Leukemia.
Qatar does not accept exemption letters or multi-year rabies vaccinations.
Step 3: Rabies Titer Test (FAVN Test)
A rabies antibody test is mandatory. This test must be done at an approved lab between 3–12 months before travel, and the result must show at least 0.5 IU/ml.
If your pet is newly vaccinated, wait 30 days after vaccination to conduct the test. Titer results must accompany your import application.

Step 4: Import Permit
An Import Permit must be obtained from Qatar’s Department of Animal Resources:
-
The permit is valid for 30 days from the date of issue.
-
Documents required: Rabies certificate, vaccination records, titer test results, microchip details.
-
Application processing usually takes 7–10 working days.
Anvis handles the complete application process on your behalf for a stress-free experience.
Step 5: Parasite Treatment
While not mandatory, it is strongly recommended that pets receive treatment against:
-
Internal parasites (like tapeworms, especially Echinococcus)
-
External parasites (like ticks and fleas)
These treatments should be administered within 5 days of travel and recorded in your pet’s health certificate.
Step 6: Health Certificate
An original Veterinary Health Certificate is required for all pets entering Qatar:
-
Must be issued by a licensed vet within 14 days of travel.
-
Must detail your pet’s vaccinations, microchip number, general health, and parasite treatment (if given).
-
It should be endorsed by a government authority in the country of export (in this case, India’s AQCS).
Step 7: Entry Port and Arrival Notice
Pets must arrive in Qatar via Hamad International Airport, Doha and enter either as:
-
Checked Baggage (with passenger)
-
Manifest Cargo (via air cargo services)
Pet owners or agents must give advance notice to Qatari veterinary officials to ensure an officer is available for inspection on arrival.
Step 8: Quarantine Rules
-
Pets meeting all the above requirements typically do not face quarantine upon arrival.
-
However, any non-compliance (missing documents, incorrect vaccinations) may result in quarantine, deportation, or denial of entry.
-
All pets must appear clinically healthy at the port of entry.
Special Considerations for Pet Travel to Qatar
❗ Age Restrictions
Pets must be at least 7 months old to enter Qatar. Puppies and kittens below this age will not meet vaccination and titer test requirements
❗ Banned Dog Breeds
Certain breeds are restricted from entering Qatar. These include:
-
Rottweiler
-
Pit Bulls (and mixes)
-
Boxer, Doberman, Bulldog (all types)
-
Mastiffs (Neapolitan, Bull, French, etc.)
-
Shar-Pei, Japanese Akita, Chow Chow, and several toy breeds like Shih Tzus and Pekingese
If you own one of these breeds, Anvis can guide you through the process of applying for special approval from the Ministry of Interior.
❗ Other Pets and CITES Regulations
If you’re transporting birds, reptiles, rabbits, or exotic pets, additional health documentation and special permits may apply. Pets listed under CITES regulations (e.g., turtles, parrots) require advance approval and import licenses.
