Relocate Your Pet to Belgium Smoothly – Expert Guidance, Loving Care
Transporting Pets to Belgium
Planning an international move to Belgium with your pet? You’re not alone—and you’re in the right hands.
Belgium, known for its charming cities, scenic countryside, and high quality of life, is also incredibly welcoming to pets. From dog-friendly parks in Brussels and Antwerp to pet-welcoming cafés and residential communities, Belgium offers a lifestyle where your furry companion is not just accepted but celebrated. Whether you’re relocating to a bustling city or a quieter town, you’ll find excellent veterinary care, pet amenities, and green spaces perfect for daily walks and weekend adventures.
However, relocating a pet from India to Belgium requires careful planning and strict adherence to European Union import regulations. Belgium follows comprehensive EU rules regarding microchipping, vaccinations, health certifications, and timelines—especially for pets arriving from “unlisted” countries like India. That’s where we come in. From initial consultation and document preparation to crate training, flight booking, and customs clearance, Anvis takes care of every step—every paw-step of the way.

What You Need to Know Before Transporting Pets to Belgium

Step 1: Microchipping – First and Foremost
Timeline: At least 30 days before travel
Your pet must be microchipped with an ISO-compliant chip (ISO 11784/11785).
- Mandatory Requirement: Microchip must be implanted before the rabies vaccination.
- Accepted Microchips in Belgium: ISO, AVID-9, and AVID-10.
Tip: Ensure the chip is scannable and registered with your contact details.
Step 2: Rabies Vaccination
Timeline: Administer at least 21 days before departure
Once the microchip is in place, your pet must receive a valid rabies vaccination.
- Primary or Booster Accepted: One-year or three-year vaccine (administered within the past year).
Documentation: An original Rabies Vaccination Certificate, signed and stamped by your veterinarian, is required.
Step 3: Rabies Antibody Titer Test (RNATT) – For Entry from India
Timeline: Blood sample must be drawn at least 30 days after rabies vaccine, and test result must be received before travel.
- Mandatory for Unlisted Countries (like India)
- The test must be sent to an EU-approved laboratory.
- After a successful result, you must wait 90 days before your pet can enter Belgium.
This is a key step—failure to follow this timeline could result in denied entry or quarantine.
Step 4: EU Health Certificate Preparation
Timeline: Within 10 days of departure
Your veterinarian must complete an EU Health Certificate in coordination with our team.
- Must be signed in blue ink.
- Completed by an accredited vet and endorsed by the Animal Quarantine and Certification Services (AQCS) in India.
- We assist with templates, vet coordination, and document checks.
Step 5: Book a Pet-Friendly Airline & Travel Crate
We work closely with IATA-compliant airlines that allow safe pet cargo transport to Belgium.
- We help you select a suitable pet travel crate—spacious, well-ventilated, leak-proof, and IATA specified.
- Flight routing, transit country rules, and seasonal restrictions are all factored in to ensure the smoothest journey.
Step 6: Customs Clearance & Arrival in Belgium
Upon arrival, your pet will undergo a document and microchip scan check at the EU point of entry.
- If all documentation is accurate and your pet is healthy, no quarantine is required.
- Your pet is free to enter and begin their Belgian adventure!
We can coordinate with local handlers and provide door-to-door services if needed.
Step 7: Optional: Tapeworm Treatment for Travel Beyond Belgium
While Belgium does not require tapeworm treatment, it’s mandatory if you plan to travel onward to countries like the UK, Ireland, Malta, Finland, or Norway.
- Treatment must be given 1–5 days before entry to those countries.
